“F**k you you narcissistic asshole!! Mars doesn’t want you. You think any planet will be as gracious and welcoming as Gaia you Motherf**ker!? Let alone Mars!? Fly the f**k out of here and try you Motherf**ker and we’ll see what happens.”
I wrote this in my journal on Jan 20, 2025 after watching several hours of the US Presidential Inauguration.
I wasn’t planning on tuning in, but I turned on Disney+ and was presented with the Live Stream from Washington D.C.
Something propelled me to click in and I was immediately presented with the Victory Speech of Elon Musk.
I was shocked by his seemingly obscene, pro-genocide(?) hand gestures, of course, but it was his ‘we’re going to Mars!!!’ proclamation that really triggered my Righteous Indignation. Hence, the tirade of swears above (and a bit below – sorry bout that!).
Spending billions/trillions of money, energy, resources, time, on anything other than healing our planet – Gaia, is unconscionable, in my opinion.
A billionaire is celebrating his own agenda, but in order to justify his role in establishing the current dictatorship-type government in the US, he’s pretending it’s all about helping humanity.
“It is thanks to you the future of civilization is assured,” declared the billionaire to his supporters during the Jan 20 ceremony.
And that was just the beginning – my Righteous Indignation (RI) was fully online as I sat in disgust over what I was seeing. Yet, I continued to watch.
Later that evening, I continued to write about and reflect on the ceremony, seething in RI, getting more and more angry at the behaviour of the billionaire and his friends.
And then, I had a painful realization:
“Watching several hours of that f**king sham of a presidential inauguration comes from a remarkably narcissistic place. I wanted to sit on my moral high horse of indignation and continue to be indignant about the actions of others. It doesn’t get more narcissistic than that.
My Righteous Indignation is narcissism. Plain and Simple. F**k. It is the narcissist within.”
‘Pathological self-absorption’ – or narcissism – is not a characteristic I want to own up to, but there it sits, within.
Facing this uncomfortable reality forced me to probe even deeper, revealing the darkest, most toxic form of the narcissist within: my privilege.
I want what I want when I want it! Sounds like two year old, but that’s the narcissistic behaviour that drove me to order three convenience items from Amazon recently.
Three deliveries, three couriers, too much packaging = microplastics everywhere! I am adding to the over-whelming waste our consumerism has created.
Commitment to Gaia
Something incredible happened after observing and photographing the EPIC, full sky, Aurora Borealis displays which occured October 2024. My Aquarius-ness was re-awakened, connecting me to a deep love and appreciation for Gaia and all her inhabitants.
From my vantage point in Lethbridge, standing at the edge of the Old Man river valley, I had a 360 view of the sky during the most intense display that occured on Oct 10. The full spectrum of ROYGBIV colors pulsated above in vibrant, angelic patterns.
While editing my hundreds of images later, I noticed the patterns in the stars and started mapping the constellations visible within my photos using an online star-mapping tool.
Prior to this, I knew the 12 Zodiac signs are based on constellations, but I had no idea where any of them lived within the cosmos, or what they looked like.
I spent the next several days/weeks identifying those visible in October (there were many!!) and mapping/tracing them over my Aurora photos, a handful of which are included in this post.
My last blog described my new insights around Gaia and the mechanics of Aurora. The opportunity to view the cosmos through the beautiful filter of Gaia’s protective shield catapulted my desire to align with and help heal our beautiful planet.
In late December, I created a list of intentions for the new year titled: Commitment to Gaia for 2025. More about aspirations than resolutions, the list is based on an Aquarian ‘all is one’ perspective. Here are a few of the bullet points:
- Embrace All is One Consiousness
- Use Gaia Based Metrics in Desicions
- Create Counter Culture with Compassion
- Embody the Love Rebel
- Live in Both/And
The language of these Aquarian-based intentions comes from Astrologer, Teacher, Intuitive Life Strategist (and more) Robert Ohotto, a masterful teacher and guide on all things Aquarius/holism/all-is-one.
Recognizing that ‘all that lives ‘out there’ also lives within’ is essential to embracing and embodying my Aquarian-ness. This uncomfortable truth is what propelled me look inward and uncover my narcissist within.
Being as diligent as possible in making holism-aligned choices is my Commitment to Gaia as I move into my 50s (starting tomorrow!), and that starts with publishing this blog.
Reducing consumption and waste AND and tampering-down my RI are my two biggest focus points right now. It’s time to ‘walk to walk’ in terms of making consious decisions.
There is so much to be indignant about right now, and some level of RI is purposeful and necessary for all of us. But it’s not doing me or the rest of the world any good to stew and rant about the wrongness of the world while ignoring the narcissist within.
Until next time, continue loving life and all things wild!
