Foot Ox is the long-standing musical project of Phoenix-Tempe-based singer-songwriter Teague Cullen, who is preparing the release of their new album, A Lighthouse with Silver Dog Eyes, which will be out on August 11 on Ernest Jenning Record Co.
The track was written just before the world shut down for the COVID-19 pandemic, and is described as being about the “ache of losing people to forces beyond your control.”
It captures a blend of alt country and folk in the vein of Big Thief, Pinegrove, and Waxahatchee, with a raw nature that captures a wonderful pure sense of songwriting, with some commanding instrumentation to boot.
