Snake Orange Cake is the musical project of Julia Carlsson, an artist originally from the Åland Islands and now based in Berlin. With a setup of looper, sampler, synth, and voice, she crafts emotionally rich, experimental soundscapes that blur the line between poetry and electronic music. Her upcoming debut EP promises to dive deeper into this world: raw, reflective, and full of textures. And fans won’t have to wait long to hear it live. She’ll be performing it at Kokong Festival on August 1st.

Following up to her introduction card “Stitch,” her newest single, “Hair,” is a quietly powerful ode to life’s softer moments. Lush and lo-fi, it pulses gently beneath Carlsson’s intimate vocals, turning something as ordinary as growing out your hair into a poetic metaphor for acceptance and transformation. The song arrives with a video directed by Pablo Hassmann, filmed at Berlin’s only waterfall, a perfect visual companion to the track’s sense of calm, motion, and emotional release.
