JUNE 7 – JUNE 13, 2021
Pan’s Labyrinth by Guillermo del Toro has just been added to my favourite movies of all time. I loved it. Everyone at home hated it. I love the underlying themes and the symbolism. Of course my favourite character is the Pale Man. For a closer look of all the sketchbook pages, please click on the images.

These spread was fun to do. I wasn’t aware about the history behind butterscotch until I did a Google search. Interesting stuff.

I really have to work on my drawings of circular objects. The Glazzy donuts in this sketchbook spread look like pendants. I loved doing this spread after enjoying some of my favourite donuts from JCo. My ultimate favourite is the Alcapone.

I finished the book, “Happiness, As Such,” by Natalia Ginzburg recently. It’s one of those books that stay with you because its contents sort of resonate with the things that have you’ve been through. The book was part epistolary so I sketched some letters and stamps, trying to visualise what the characters’ involvement with letters would have looked like.

We finished watching the first season of The Frankenstein Chronicles recently and we’ve started the second season. You would have noticed now that there’s a recurring theme of fantasy and horror in movies or shows I watch. I love watching them. The left sketch is of the Grey Abbey ruins in Northern Ireland. I found out that most of the show was filmed in this region. The sketch on the top right side of the sketchbook is of John Marlott, the main protagonist played by Sean Bean. The second season opens with scenes of Mr. Marlott looking lost and despairing in the beach. I think that was incredible beautiful – the beach, I mean. The bottom sketch was of a building in the show where Mr. Marlott was kept captive after what Dr. Harvey did to him. I shall not reveal spoilers. I can’t find any information about the building and I’m not exactly sure where it is, but it was one of those things that become etched in your mind and you associate with the show. When I sketch scenes from movies, I only sketch the ones that have moved me or have piqued my interest. Surely there are more iconic scenes, but these ones affected me in a way, which is why they’re featured in my sketchbook.

If you’re new here, the sketchbook is by Royal Talens Art Creations. It’s not for watercolours but it will suffice for my simple sketches. That’s it for Week 23 of 2021. Thank you for visiting!
